Pictured above Emmy, Holly and Ritz at the age of six weeks .The puppies above, along with six other liter mates, were abandoned in a local motel room in September 2006. It was two days before they were discovered and brought into the capable hands of our loving foster parents. Without their mom and barely two weeks old when they were found, these little guys needed to be fed around the clock! The puppies were in our foster program for two months until they were strong and old enough to be adopted to their forever homes. 2006 was a year that stretched our financial resources due to the overwhelming amount of need. This year, we are asking animal lovers to join the Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) and make a difference in the life of an animal. LCHS takes in animals that are sick or scheduled for euthanasia from regional animal shelters...like Jackie Blue the dachshund who came to us with severe acid burns...or Wobbles, the cat, who was abandoned with three broken legs. We spay and neuter hundreds of animals and work to provide financial assistance to low income pet owners. We also have an extensive humane education program. In 2006 we witnessed an increase of abandoned animals! Our two full time staff members and four part time employees have been pushed to the limit. The animals of LCHS are asking you to join us as we struggle to help more and more animals in need. Please make a donation to help these animals without a voice. Your support will directly reduce animal suffering and animal overpopulation in our community. |

Two New Ways You Can Help Support LCHS!
First, visit www.goodsearch.com and designate the Leon County Humane Society as your charity. Then, each time you search the internet using www.goodsearch.com, a donation will be made to LCHS. It’s powered by Yahoo!, so you’ll get the same quality search results you’re used to. There’s even a button to see how much money has been raised. Begin using www.goodsearch.com as your main search engine and tell your friends. The more people using it, the more money raised for homeless animals in our community.
Second, have your company or department participate in Cartridges for Cats and Canines! Call Donnie Vause of Tallahassee Laser and Inkjet Cartridge Service to sign up and designate the Leon County Humane Society as your charity. Then save your used inkjet, laser, and fax cartridges. When your container is full, it will be picked up for recycling, with proceeds benefiting LCHS.
