When you become a member of the LCHS, you're helping to support programs and services that save the lives of animals because, unfortunately, every animal doesn't have a responsible and compassionate owner. To help those animals lacking the love and care of a good home, the Leon County Humane Society provides education about and advocacy for the companion animals in the Big Bend area.
These services are not free, and as such, membership is perhaps the most important fundraiser for the Leon County Humane Society. Membership dollars support day-to-day operating costs like electricity, staffing, and phone service, as well as program expenses including mailings and PetPourri, our newsletter.
Additionally, our Foster Program, Humane Education Programs, Spay/Neuter Campaign and the Shelter-to-Service Program exist solely on contributions from our members and supporters. Please help by joining the LCHS today.

According to the LCHS Bylaws, "any person or entity (business, corporation, association, etc.) interested in the objectives of the organization and expressing a desire to support the organization's programs will, upon written application to the Board of Directors, be granted membership in the organization."
"If the Board of Directors has any reason to believe that an application for membership is from a person or entity that does not support or is misrepresenting their support of this organization's purposes, the Board of Directors may request that up to three members contact and confer with the applicant for membership and shall have the authority, by majority vote, to reject any such application. A person whose application has been rejected may request a hearing and speak on his or her behalf at an ensuing Board meeting. The decision of the Board shall be final, but may be reconsidered after one year from the date an applicant is rejected."
Each member is entitled to one vote.
