Daisy's Gone Home!

Many visitors and volunteers have come to know “Daisy”, a sweet, energetic lab mix who has spent much of the last 4 months at the LCHS office.

Elder Care Services contacted LCHS in late September after meeting a gentleman and his canine companion who were living out of their van. Daisy’s owner needed surgery and a lengthy stay in a rehabilitation facility where Daisy would not be allowed to accompany him. Her owner would only undergo the necessary surgery after having been assured that Daisy was in good hands and would be returning to him.

One good deed turned into a ripple effect. While spending the weekdays at LCHS, Daisy’s weekends have been spent at Wagland Kennel where her boarding and care were donated by the generous and kind hearted business owners, Jeff and Patty Wagner. Once able to move about, Daisy’s owner began visiting her regularly at LCHS. She would immediately begin barking as she heard his van pull up to the building.

With help from the Dwellings, housing arrangements have been made for Daisy and her owner so that once reunited, they had a furnished home to move into. Canine behaviorist and LCHS volunteer, Melissa Peterson, donated several private training sessions with Daisy and her owner to improve her leash manners and obedience.

Last Friday, we were overjoyed to see Daisy and her Dad leave LCHS bound for the next stage of their lives together!
